The 2019 Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 is one of a pair of new models for Royal Enfield. There are 650 interceptors and the Continental GT version. Continental GT 650 Overview
The first impression on the Continental GT bike is that this is a huge improvement over the previous model of Continental GT. This motor is a true gem it is probably the best motorcycle that Royal Enfield ever produced. Suspension wise it has conventional 41 millimeter Forks on the front and on the rear twin remote gas shocks. The suspension is actually quite good. Now in the braking department, got a 320-millimeter disc on the front that is gripped by a two-piston sliding caliper. And on the rear two, a 20-millimeter disc with a single-piston caliper both those calipers are actually made by Brembo.
But they’re not branded as Brembo calipers. Weight is 200 kilos wet. The rear brake also was good and was progressive and really good as a steadying brake when riding deep into corners. The bike is fitted with a two-channel ABS unit so there are no issues with locking up the front or the rear. The quality of the switchgear is good it’s not extraordinary but it simple and more than adequate quality.

Feature of this motorcycle it’s an air-oil cooled 648 CC parallel twin. It’s a single overhead cam and has four valves per cylinder bore. And Stroke is 78 millimeters by sixty-seven points eight millimeters. So it’s an oversquare engine compression ratio is actually a leisurely nine point five to one. And interestingly the engine runs a 270-degree crank now 270-degree cranks are pretty common today. Now, the 270-degree crank gives you more a V-twin sound and also improves the low down torque of the engine. Of course, it will cause more vibration. This engine puts out 47 horsepower at 7100 rpm.
And 42 Newton meters of torque at around 4,000 rpm it runs a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. And fuelling is taken care of by a Bosch fuel injection system which is Euro 4 compliant. It’s a real pleasure to change up-and-down gears on the road. And certainly, once you get it over 5,000 rpm and you open that throttle right up it has plenty of acceleration to get up hills or to overtake. And the vibration is really quite minimal from this motorcycle.
It’s truly a great engine, with nice chassis, good brakes, excellent suspension and the quality of finish you know I think Royal Enfield is onto a winner with the Continental GT and the 650 interceptors. Price around 2.75 lakh. Paint scheme there’s five different paint schemes available for these bikes some cost more than others.
